"MAURICE RAVEL (1875-1937)
var i tillegg til Claude Debussy, den viktigste impresjonistiske komponisten i Frankrike. Impresjonisme kan oversettes med inntrykkskunst , først brukt i malerkunsten og senere i musikken. Ravel skrev mange verk med tilknytning til spansk musikk. Det mest berømte er kanskje Bolero (1928), et mesterstykke og en studie i instrumentering.Til dirigenten
Hele verket er bygget opp rundt et stort crescendo. Vær derfor nøyaktig med styrkegrader og jobb med balanse gjennom hele stykket slik at stigningen blir jevn. Å korte ned Bolero fra femten til fire og et halvt minutt og samtidig beholde den nesten hypnotiske virkningen i verket er en utfordring. Dette arrangementet gir i alle fall en innføring i Ravels unike orkestermusikk.

kommer fra Kolbotn i Oppegård kommune. Han er utdannet ved Norges Musikkhøgskole som blokkfløytist og har jobbet som musiker, undervist og dirigert skole- og voksenkorps flere steder. Esplo behersker en rekke instrumenter og har komponert og arrangert musikk i mange år med særlig hovedvekt på korpsbesetningen.

comes from a small place near Oslo called Kolbotn in the county of Oppegård. He has a bacheler from The Norwegian Academy of Music and his main instument is recorder (blockflöte). He has been working as a musician, teacher and a conductor for both young- and adult bands. Esplo masters several instruments and has been composing and arranging music for many years. Most of the production for bands.
