Concerto for Cornet and Brass Band is dedicated to Rune Gundersen who premiered the piece in Bergen 08 May 1994.

Cornet section:
1 Eb Cornet
Bb Cornets: 2 players on each part
3rd movement: Off stage ensemble:
3 Bb Cornets, 3 Bb Trombones and 1 Eb Bass.
The concerto can be performed without off stage-ensemble.
In that case use cue-notes and optional cuts.
1st Percussion:
Timpani, glockenspiel, triangle,
4 temple blocks, tam-tam, police whistle
2nd Percussion:
DRUM KIT: 6 tom toms, Snare drum, Hi-hat,
Clashed cymbal, Susp. cymbal (two different sizes),
Vibraphone
Ped sempre = keep pedal down.
Harmon mute:
(T.I) = tube in, (T.E) = tube extended, (T.O) = tube out,
(H.O.T) = hand over tube, (O.H) = open hand
All trills should span a minor second

TORSTEIN AAGAARD-NILSEN (1964)
er utdannet ved Universitetet i Bergen (matematikk) og Bergen Musikkonservatorium, der han studerte trompetspill, musikkteori/komposisjon og pedagogikk. Han har komponert profesjonelt siden slutten av 80-tallet, ved siden av undervisning, dirigering og instruksjon.

TORSTEIN AAGAARD-NILSEN (1964)
Aagaard-Nilsen is educated from the University of Bergen and Bergen
Music Conservatory. He established himself in the Bergen area by the
end of the 1980´s as a composer, arranger and conductor.
His list of works includes many compositions and arrangements for both
brass- and wind band.
