STRONGER TOGETHER



Stronger together er bestilt av Norges Musikkorps Forbund og er satt sammen av sanger fra Iran, Polen, Somalia, Syria og Norge.

Verket er fleksibelt ved at de ulike delene kan spilles hver for seg og at stemmefordelingen kan tilpasses besetningen. Det er lagt til rette for publikumsdeltakelse flere steder i verket.

STRONGER TOGETHER



Stronger Together has been commissioned by The Norwegian Band Federation (NMF) .



The piece contains songs from Iran, Somalia, Syria and Norway. The songs have been collected by youth representatives from NMF and has been put together by signatory. It has not been my intention to arrange the songs similarly to their origin, but rather to use them down according to how my Norwegian ears interprets them, putting it into the Norwegian banding tradition.

SVEIN H. GISKE (f. 1973)



Svein H. Giske er fra Ålesund og studerte komposisjon under Morten Eide Pedersens veiledning på Griegakademiet fra 2010 til 2014.

Giske har skrevet mye musikk for forskjellige typer blåseensembler, kor og kammerensembler.



Han har komponert verk til blant andre Norges Musikkorps Forbund, Bit 20, Norges Ungdomsbrassband og trompetsolist Ole Edvard Antonsen, NOSO med trombonesolist

Ian Bousfield, Eikanger-Bjørsvik Musikklag, Sjøforsvarets Musikkorps, Stavanger Brass Band, Bergen Treblåsensemble (B3), Bergen Big Band og vokalensemblet SKRIK.



Giskes arrangementer blir brukt i alle de profesjonelle korpsene i Norge og av amatørkorps i inn- og utland.



I februar 2012 ble Goldberg 2012, bestilt av Norges Musikkorps Forbund som pliktnummer til elitedivisjonen i Norgesmesterskapet for brassband, urfremført i Grieghallen. Goldberg 2012 ble av nettstedet 4barsrest.com kåret til Testpiece of the Year 2012 og til Best new music 2012 av magasinet Brass Band World. I 2013 ble det brukt som pliktnummer i World Music Contest i Kerkrade og er siden jevnlig brukt som selvvalgtstykke i NM og EM.



Giske arbeider til daglig som trompeter i Sjøforsvarets Musikkorps i Bergen. Han er musikalsk leder i Dragefjellets Musikkorps og Askøy Brassband og er i tillegg aktiv som dommer i korps-konkurranser.





SVEIN H. GISKE



Svein H. Giske was born in Ålesund and studied composition at the Grieg Academy in Bergen under the guidance of the late Morten Eide Pedersen from 2010 to 2014.

Giske has composed and arranged a lot of music for wind ensembles, choir and various chamber music ensembles.



He has written works for The Norwegian Band Federation, Bit 20, The Norwegian Youth Brass Band with soloist Ole Edvard Antonsen, NOSO with trombone soloist Ian Bousfield,

Eikanger-Bjørsvik Musikklag, The Norwegian Royal Naval Forces? Band, Stavanger Brass Band, Bergen Woodwind Ensemble (B3), Bergen Big Band and the vocal group SKRIK.



Giske?s arrangements are used in all of the professional bands in Norway and by a great many amateur bands in Norway and abroad.



In february 2012 Goldberg 2012, commissioned by The Norwegian Band Federation, was the test piece in the elite section at the Norwegian Brass Band Championships in the Grieg Hall in Bergen. Goldberg 2012 was rated Test Piece of the Year 2012 by 4barsrest.com and Best New Music 2012 by Brass Band World.



In 2013 it was used as the test piece at the World Music Contest in Kerkrade and it is also used regularly as an own choice piece in both the Norwegian- and European Brass Band Championships.



Giske has been working as a trumpet player in The Norwegian Royal Naval Forces? Band in Bergen since 1996. He is the musical director of Dragefjellets Musikkorps and Askøy Brass Band and he is frequently used as an adjudicator in band contests in Norway.
