4 Movements

In Trans4mations (4 mallet multi-percussion studies for drum set) my aim was to create a methodical approach to learning and refining 4 mallet technique using only a drum set.
4 Movements 4 multi-percussion & piano takes this foundation to the next level by offering a set of musically and technically more demanding challenges in an exciting chamber music environment.
Each piece tackles the abstract rhythmic sounds of multi-percussion in a harmonious way, marrying polyphonic percussion with the tangibly melodic sounds of the piano to create a well-balanced, coherent whole. The compact, clear setup using common percussion instruments aids practical feasibility, and adding piano ensures the music is attractive and accessible. 4 Movements includes a special notation for the percussion parts in addition to classical notation as a way of promoting technical insight and accessibility.
